Compassionate Science

While I was attending my summer camp of Math and Science called SMASH, I gain the knowledge of how engineering is everything that makes a life easy. I realized that a Chemical Engineer helps the world in a more environmental aspect. You deal with world problems using chemistry, which fascinates me and intrigues me. I want to make the world a different place than what it is today and improve beyond that. I want to provide clean water in many areas of the world that do not attain that safe source of water. I want to use my knowledge of chemical engineering to create safe ways to attain resources in places that are not easy to get. When I receive that knowledge of engineering I would want to create something to help those in need of any aspect of their life. I don't just want to make a difference in the U.S. but also impact around the world. There are endless possibilities in helping today's world through science, we just need to be inspired to do so.

The Future

I feel that the future will offer more than today but at the same time offer less. In 75 years I think we will abuse today's resources and end up leaving planet earth due to its condition. I think the future holds a new home for our children. Today you hear about global warming getting worse and ocean levels rising and natural disasters occurring more often due to climate change. It is only a matter of time when we completely waste out the planet earth. Of course I think that technology will improve and solve many of our daily problems but not so sure about our long-term problems. I haven't heard much about those plans and solutions. I do believe that we will find a cure for many of incurable diseases today. In the future I also believe that we will depend on technology for every single thing in our lives. As we do today we depend on many technological appliances but to an extent. The future might offer wonders to everyone's life but fails to provide long term plans and when more people begin to notice these problems it would be too late. We would be too busy on our new floating houses and our mini robots doing all our work for us to even think of the consequences.

One of Many Funny Memories

I tend to laugh at mostly everything but I think the one time that I couldn't stop laughing would be when I attended Skatie Hawkins this year in February. I went with my boyfriend, my best friend went with her boyfriend and my other best friend went with her boyfriend. We at the very beginning were the first one there at the event which was very cool and nice. My boyfriend and I not knowing so much about skating took it slow and steady and so did my best friend and her boyfriend. My best friend Caroline was basically a professional at skating and was going around the rink 50 times while everyone else was on their first lap around. Somehow she was racing her boyfriend and ended up crashing into my other best friend's (Erika) boyfriend Brandon which was the most funniest thing I've ever seen. Brandon flew across the rink and fell nasty on the ground and it seemed as if it didn't because he was laughing. His laughing made everyone laugh and simply crack up because Caroline in the end felt so bad and Brandon was messing with her making her feel bad but just joking around. 'Till this day we laugh and joke around that day because it was just so funny seeing everyone fall and making others fall.

Modern Times

I didn't expect to really enjoy the film Modern Times because first of all it was a silent film and second of all it was in black and white. After learning about the life of Charlie Chaplin, I realized why he produced, wrote, and directed these films. The meanings behind every single part of the movie had an even more greater meaning to it. The entire movie contained metaphors that was part of an even greater metaphor on the future and the misery of people then and later in the future. I really enjoyed the scenes where Chaplin was a factory worker because it portrayed such an significant lesson that revealed itself as being eaten alive by the machine and spit back out only to become crazy. It was amazing that way Chaplin played out this movie in such a sophisticated and yet hysterical way. Chaplin managed to cover up what he really wanted to say through comedy and a simple image or scene in the background which I found to be genius and clever. I especially loved how he would simply have the amass energy to perform through out the movie. My breath was taken away when Chaplin began to sing in a sort of French or Italian language which fascinated me on how he managed to do such an amazing talent. Full of talents Charlie Chaplin was an incredible person in every way possible.
